Philip Shea is a main character in the USA Network crime drama series Eyewitness. He is a teenager from the projects who's seen more pain than any adult ever should, gets a fresh chance to start over in an idyllic small town with his new foster mother, Helen. He is on the verge of falling in love, when he witnesses a triple murder with his closeted boyfriend – and the two boys swear themselves to secrecy for fear of being outed. [1]

Early Life[]

Philip is the only child of his single mother, who suffered from addiction issues his whole life. He would often go out to buy her drugs if she asked, and take care of her when she was unable, causing him to mature quickly. Growing up in the city he didn't worry too much about being gay because no one really cared about that sort of thing, but he still waited to come out to his mother. Due to her addiction, they had issues with child services until he was eventually taken away from her in order to receive proper care. Philip continued to sneak out to see her and make sure she was okay even though it was in violation of the child services agreement, where she had been stripped of visitation. He was taken in by Gabe and Helen in a small town where he found it difficult to connect with them and his surroundings because of the differences from the city.
